WHAT DOES A COMPUTER NETWORKING TECHNICIAN DO?
- installs and repairs hardware, software and peripheral equipment
- verifies and troubleshoots network and internet connectivity
- consults with usersand conducts computer diagnostics to determine the nature of problems and provides technical assistance
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
- enteringÌýgrade 11 or 12
- good employability skills
- strong interest in working with computer hardware
- aptitude for working with computers and electronics
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Adam Thompson got into this program quite accidently – turns out it was the best accident ever for it gave him a jumpstart to career success! Always an avid gamer, his passion for computers deepened as he sought new challenges. He was a co-winner of the Cisco Netriders’ Challenge and created a game that was released on iTunes. Since graduating from high school in 2011, he’s worked as an app designer, taken post-secondary courses at SFU and is presently at Zhejiang University in China working on ideas for a start-up company.
