Patricia Finlay has been awarded theÌýVal Hamilton Lifetime Achievement AwardÌýby theÌýBritish Columbia Teacher-Librarians’ Association (BCTLA). The annual award recognizes the commitment and achievement of Teacher-Librarians who have made outstanding contributions to teacher-librarianship, school libraries, and the organization.
Ms Finlay began her career in Burnaby Schools in 1977. She has held a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, head teacher, teacher-librarian, and lastly, District Teacher-Librarian before her retirement at the end of the 2018-19 school year. She has since come back to the District on a part-time basis as a teacher on-call.

Finlay received the Lifetime Achievement honour at the British Columbia Teacher-Librarians’ Association’s annual fall conference.
