It was a packed house as student authors, the student who did the cover art, families, teachers, administrators, and trustees gathered at the Michael J Fox Theatre to celebrate “Brave New Words,” the 2019 Words Writing Project.
Every year, more than 100 Burnaby Schools students are chosen to be published authors in a professionally printed anthology. The Words Writing Project is open to all K-12 students, and submissions can be written in French or English.

The original work is both a celebration of student writing and a chance to explore the opportunity to become a published author. Career exploration is one of the important opportunities the Burnaby School District provides for our students.

Unique to Burnaby Schools, the Words publication has annually showcased the best in student poetry and prose since 1985. Past years’ anthologies can be found in Burnaby’s school and public libraries.
